Population Statisticians define a population as the entire "universe" of items with which you are concerned. For example, you are attempting to caculate the median age of a group of participants in a survey. Twenty respondents answer your questionnaire. Here, the age of all twenty participants is your population. Sometimes, a the number of observations in a population is denoted as "n." In the above example, n=20 (the twenty survey respondents.) |
